April Favorites

Sorry they're a bit late, but i've been busy working on my new project: dog breeding. I have a tiny little male poodle mix that I think is so cute and I love puppies so I decided to breed him. Don't worry, I've been researching this for years and consider myself quite the expert. :) To learn more about this go to myhammys.blogspot.com (I also had a litter of eleven hamsters). This is my first favorites post so it will include everything I like, not just the ones I discovered this month.

The first one is Teavana's Green Tea Mints. http://bit.ly/c1ZOPq These taste sooooo good, not bitter like real green tea but kind of sweet and organic. It also really freshens your breath. They were having a sale at my store and the mints were $1.89 each because they didn't know whether they would be re-stocked or not. Fortunately they have them again. Unfortunately the prices are back to $3.65. But if you want to buy them online they're on sale right now.

The second one is Burt's Bees Lip Shimmer. http://bit.ly/MLt9j I really love this company because they have cute packaging, good smells, and are organic. This lip gloss has that cooling mint and is VERY sparkly so its definitely not for you if you don't like glitter. I got it in Champagne, which looks like a light pink but is really just glitter. I also tried it out on my eyelids today and it looked and felt good, not too sparkly or sticky. But it did also have the same cool effect on my eyes which, which felt kind of interesting. I love this because it is just easy and quick to use.

The third one is Clinique's Blushwear Cream Stick. http://bit.ly/6YprAy I have it in Glow Blush. My mom got it as a sample and gave it to me, so I have a mini version, but it still has lasted a really long time. I used as an eyeshadow until I looked at the bottom and realized it was a blush. The color is looks kind of orange-ish, but goes on kind of pink and sparkly. I only use this April to September.
Because it's so...glowy!

The fourth one is the Aveda Caribbean Therapy Body Cream. http://bit.ly/9Y3ShL I got this as a free sample (I know, another one) from an email that I signed up to get as part of the mailing list. It smells SOO good and is cute to carry around.

The last one is bit.ly Just look that up on the address bar and you'll come to a site where you can enter a link and it will automatically make it shorter. See above.
Well that's it for now. See ya

The Strike

Hey guys! I didn't go to school today because of the strike in my school district. Instead, I went to see the Bounty Hunter with my friend Nika. Movie tickets are getting really expensive! We went to the 1 o'clock showing and it cost $10! And the smallest size popcorn cost $6. Also, you know Fern Arable in Charlotte's Web? Well, I just learned that "arable" means "good for growing crops" and I just thought that it was funny that their name was Arable and they were farmers. My dog also got a haircut that makes him look exactly like a poodle. I had no idea his nose was so long! I had an audition for H&M on Saturday. It was different from the others I've been to. It was like a photoshoot and I did cartwheels while the photographer took pictures. Well, I better get to bed because I have to go to school tomorrow even though the strike is still going on. Sorry for not posting that much. I always think that it takes a lot more time than it does. Remember, you can always email me at missiemayarose@gmail.com. Remind me to post or tell me what you think of my recent posts.
PS: I got my own computer!!! It's a desk top, though, and no webcam. :( It's a Mac OS X

Long Absence

Hi guys, sorry for being so AWOL. I had an okay spring break, we didn't go anywhere big just the mall, and the beach. I also went to see How to Train Your Dragon, which was pretty good. The animation was amazing and the story made sense until the last bit when Hiccup's father said that he was not his son. My parents also got a bed from Z Gallerie. It was the floor model and on sale.

I also went to the dentist, found out I had a cavity (my first in six years!). Oh yes, I went to the doctor. At the end of the appointment, my mom said she never wanted to take me again. The reason is, I had to get three shots and it took twenty minutes. And that is because I have a severe phobia of needles. It's true, my dad believed me.

Maya Rose Organics

Hello all! I have discovered a line of ORGANIC cosmetics called, guess what, MAYA ROSE. YES YES YES!!! I can hardly believe it but it's true. I HAVE to have something from there. The trouble is, the prices aren't listed. As you probably know, anything over $20 dollars is out of my budget. Oh well, I guess it will be a birthday present (or splurge!). mayaroseorganics.com There is also a boutique called Maya Rose Boutique. I had no idea there were so many "Maya Rose"'s. http://www.mayaroseboutique.com/home.php Too bad it's in England. Maybe I'll go if I get into Oxford (my dream college). There is also a company called Princess Maya's Rose Parties, which throw spa parties for girls. http://www.mayarosesparties.com/ One more thing, (well, actually, two) I have to go to the doctor tomorrow for my check-up and I'm SUPER scared. I guess I have to get like four shots. LAST THING, I am really liking Anthropologie. I was looking on their website and there's some cool stuff (only a little overpriced. Who would pay $5,000 dollars for a bed?) Well, bye!

Quick Update

No time for a long post right now, sorry. Spring break is next week! Yay! Luckily, we have practically no homework this week from my English and Social Studies teacher. nothing is due until Thursday, which is really great because usually we have four hours every night. Anyway, I got home from school half an hour ago and my family is at the pool, so gotta run!

Healthy Snacks

I went to the Girl Scout Food Fair yesterday and it was a lot of fun. There was so many different kinds of food and I absolutely LOVE the Australian Lamingtons, white cake covered with chocolate sauce and rolled in coconut! But it got me thinking, I'm trying to eat healthy for at least one (1) meal a day, but it's hard to find healthy snacks. So I was looking in the Ralph's magazine and found just what I was looking for: a list of healthy snacks. Ten healthy snacks are low-fat string cheese, 1 pita with 1 tb hummus, 10-12 baked chips with 1/2 cup salsa, half a bagel with 1 tb peanut butter, 2 cups popcorn with chocolate shavings on top, frozen whole wheat waffle topped with 1/2 cup applesauce, 1 cup whole-wheat cereal with low-fat milk, 1/2 cup cottage cheese with peach or tomato slices, 1/4 cup nuts and dried fruit(not sugar coated), and 1 cup low-fat chocolate milk. Not sure if I like everything ad I don't see why it can't be white milk, but some goo ideas. Side note: I LOVE this pillow. I really like Paul Frank and might get it for soon-to-be new room, although it probably wouldn't match with my antique french boudoir theme.

Watercolor Look

I know that I said I don't wear make up, but this look was sooo fun to do and I just wanted to share it. I first saw this in the September 2009 issue of Seventeen, but only recently tried it. I used my Lancome palette, but I don't know which one it is. Anyway, I'm sure any similar colors would suffice. I started by using the lavender from my inner corners to my crease. Than it took the turquoise and went from the crease to the outer corners. Then it took the skinny side of the brush (I'm using the firm foam eye shadow brushes) and lined my eyes with the turquoise. Then I took a brown pencil eyeliner and just lined the outer corners of my waterline, if that makes sense. I used Maybelline Big Lash Waterproof Mascara in Soft Black and then combed my eyelashes. I hate it when people don't comb their eyelashes after putting on mascara, it looks very clumpy. Also, you know how when you get a smudge of mascara around your eye you want to get it while it's wet and just rub it in? Well, don't. Just wait till it's DRY and take a DRY Q-tip and rub it and it will come right off. Well, thanks! I did three posts tonight and I still have homework! Hahaha. That's so funny. Not

Proactiv

I went over to my friend Kaitlyn's house today and recently she received the Murad acne-control kit she had ordered. I noticed that she had several bottles of Proactiv products and asked if they worked. She said they didn't really and asked me if I wanted them. I said "sure", and decided to try it. I'm going to use these products until April 25th and see if they made any difference. My acne really isn't bad, I just get a few small whiteheads on my chin and in the places next to my nose. I'm not going to use the Proactiv all over my face, just the trouble spots. Update next week on progress.

Outfit of the Day

Today I am going to day an "Outfit of the Day" post. Those of you who know me, saw me where this outfit yesterday, so it IS a bit late, but I had no time last night. Well, let me get started. My cardigan is a little button down V-neck with half sleeves. I'm not sure where I got it, but it says "Ronette" on the back. My shirt is a sleeveless white ribbed tank top with small red polka dots, from Limited Too. My shorts are very short (I'm surprised I didn't get dress code) and plaid. They're from Tilly's. I wore these with silver flip-flops. This is my first Outfit of the Day post and tell me whether you like it or not. Probably not, I just wanted to try one.

Skin Care

Hey guys! So I'm going to tell you how I take care of my skin. So every night, in the shower, (which is easier because then you don't have to worry about it getting in your hair) I take my DHC Cleansing Foam and I lather it up. I massage into my face and rinse. Then I take my mini sample bottle of Irish Spring Cool Relief Scrub and rub that in, too. After I get out of the shower, I dab on DHC Ceramide Quick. I know you probably won't be able to but these DHC products so quickly, but there are drugstore alternatives. I hear Clean and Clear is very good, and I'll tell you about my Biore' experience. Once a week I use Biore' Blemish Fighting Ice Cleanser. Then I use Biore' Pore Unclogging Scrub. When my face is feeling dry I put on Vaseline LOTION. My dad brought me a sample of Biore' Dual Fusion Moisturizer SPF 30. I really like it! I might buy it soon.

About Me

Hi, my name is Maya Rose and I've decided to start a beauty blog for tween girls. There are many blogs with fashion tips and make up styles, but none targeted for younger girls who don't wear makeup but are still interested in their looks. This blog will have outfits, skincare and hair tips, quirky pieces of information, and much more!
